Rent receipt: quick answers

What is a rent receipt? A written acknowledgement that the landlord received a rent payment: who paid, who received, how much, for which period and address, and how it was paid. It protects both sides in a dispute.

Is a landlord required to give one? It depends on where the property is. Several US states and Canadian provinces require a receipt on request or for cash payments; many countries require it on demand. When in doubt, issue one: it costs nothing.

What should it contain? Date, receipt number, landlord and tenant names, property address, rental period, amount (figures and words), payment method, and any remaining balance. This generator fills all of them.

Can I send it by email? Yes. Click "Print / Save as PDF", choose "Save as PDF", and attach the file.

Is my data uploaded? No. This page has no external scripts and calls no server. Entries are stored in your browser only, so next month you just change the period and print.
